Very poor and disappointing movie. Portrays the Queen in less good light than she deserves. Too much focus on the wretched Diana affair and not enough focus on the life of the Queen, the subject matter. Most of the royals not believable- Charles portrayed in a silly way, I'd sue if I was him about the inferences made in the film about him. The Queen is, as anyone can tell, a far nicer lady than Helen Mirren portrays, why was the film only about the silly Diana thing? What about the Queen's fascinating long life. Does show how manipulative Blair and his spin doctors have been- how on Earth do they get re elected? By manipulating the mass media and the gullible British public. Couldn't watch through to the end of this! I'm sorry Ma'am, I am sure that we can do better than this.

Oddly edited, not allowing us enough time to absorb important moments in the film. The casting of Charles was ludicrous. Surely, there must be someone on planet earth who looks somewhat like Charles, someone with dark hair and big ears. That actor totally took me out of the movie.

I think the film is great. I have already watched it twice. However it doesn't necessarily show reality it has made me interested in the royal family.

Shows how gullible the public is. Found the story to be manipulative, bias, making up a fictional 'ice' Queen for contrast. The Queen has done her share promoting humanitarian idealism, traveling around the world in her younger days (probably before a lot of the audiences were born). There's such a thing as protocol. The focus should be on the tragedy of the death of a mother to two young children. In real life, the children turned out fine, it proves the family is not as cold as the movie portrayed them to be. It's just a movie, a bad one.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I have just finished reading the script. From my recollections of the events of the day, it (the script) does seem to accurately and artfully capture the mood of the time. My wife was / is a great admirer of Diana and I well remember her sense of personal loss and grief when Diana died; I also remember the popular press expressing dissapointment in the reaction from the Queen in the immediate aftermath of Diana's death. The script writers I feel have tried to put this outward lack of emotion in the context of the Queen's life and her sense of duty and of doing what she thinks right. To what extent the script reflects the real feelings of Her Majesty I do not know; but the character portrayed in the script is transformed in her thinking to some extent.

I liked this movie because it was very informative about the queens life. I discovered my inner passions for politics. I have to say to Greg who responded to this movie. Your great. I agree with many of your ideas and thoughts.

Well anybody with the right mind did not attend Diana's funeral, the ones who did are mostly celebrities and idiotic people with nothing in their lives. But I agree that the film does not portray the Queen accurately. From all we know about her she is much warmer person than in the film but I doubt very much she is half as sharp or intelligent as the character in the film. Sorry Royalists, go check your IQ first before screaming abuse at this. The script is good though.

Setting aside the political bias of the film, this is a very dense and marvelously directed film. The portrayal of the Queen by Helen Mirren is a prodigious performance with no other match in the world: such an provocative performance, stirring up your tremendous empathy (NOT sympathy) for the queen. The portrayal of the other royal family members is an intriguing though considerably degenerating: Philip in particular is almost vulgar in his words, with occasional outbursts of 'what the...' and other abusive comments. But all these sketches the humane side of the royal family members, which is the most successful part of the film.

I was stunned by the manipulation & political bias in this film. Who funded it, for god's sake? I was particularly shocked by the portrayal of the queen being more upset by the death of a stag than the death of the mother of her grandchildren. This cannot possibly be true. The general portrayal of the royals was devastating, while Tony Blair came through it with a halo. Yeah right. My rating is only for the acting, not the script, which I found to be almost libelous.
